Brief Description

Alan Neville

Alan pitched up for a floor spot late last year and we really enjoyed his melodic and lyrically excellent songs.

Band with no Name Superb funk/rock combo playing leader Michael's original songs.  They stepped in at the last minute for us in July when someone cancelled due to illness - well two and a half of them did - and we invited them back for a 'proper' set in August.

Bernard Hoskin

Acoustic roots singer/songwriter and mulit-instrumentalist, Bernard Hoskin, draws from a diverse range of influences to create his distinctive sound: English songwriting, world music rhythms, folk, country and blues are styles you can expect to hear in his set. www.bernardhoskin.com/

Big Fibbers

Mad pants, drunk swimsuits, whoopee whistles and a big dollop of humour are what you can expect from Nigel and Steve. Big Fibbers make a welcome return to Platform.

Blackett

Clayton Denwood

Canadian Clayton may tire of the comparisons to Bob Dylan but there is no doubt that his poetic lyrics, strong melodies and distinct vocals bear out that connection. Clayton has performed with the likes of the Band's Levon Helm, Garth Hudson and Rick Danko which is further testament to the calibre of his craft. We're thrilled that he is taking time out of his UK tour to put in an appearance at Platform.

Del Sloan

Del turned up for a floor spot land announced himself as 'just Del' - a very brief moniker for someone with great songs and undeniable stage presence. Edgy, bluesy and with a voice that sounds like it's been polished with whisky, we were only too happy to book Del back immediately.

Ed Payne

Only 21 years old but already a songwriter and performer of exceptional quality. Hailing from Hereford, Ed's music is a happy pop and R&B mix and performed with such confidence that you cannot help but smile let your feet move with his grooves. Ed may be remembered from The Wish's Old Blue Last days, and we're delighted to have him sharing our stage once again.

Emily Coates

Once Emily begins singing it is evident that this girl lives through music. Her melodies are simply beautiful and carried by a voice that is remarkably piercing and haunting. Her lyrics are honest, touching and raw all at once. Wise beyond her years, she speaks unrestrained about life and death

Fledge

Fledge are a 3 piece band comprising Sarah Ross (vocals), Jo Clack (vocals, guitar) and Steve Ball. They fuse elements of pop, folk and jazz and have released two albums, Sanguine Surprise and Fire On The Foreshore. Steve Ball plays an amazing array of percussion instruments and when he kicks into action  it really is like watching musical poetry in motion. Not to be missed!

Hicksville

Acoustic duo Piers F. Hawkins (Banjo, guitar, vocals) and Bobbyboy Mills (mandolin, guitar, vocals) play a rough and ready mix of alt-country, folk and blue grass. Jessica (piano)  and Genevieve (vocals) began writing their own material in 2002.  During this period Genevieve was at the Junior Royal Academy of Music studying to become a classical singer.  She decided to break away from the restrictions of classical training and move to Trinity College of Music to study Jazz.  Here she met Andy (acoustic guitar, sax) and the group Neeve was formed.  It is difficult to define their genre as they are still developing as a trio.  There are, however, strong influences of soul and jazz.  Their aim is to continue playing and improve their performance and song-writing ability.
